The Champions are back to defend their title and first up they welcome Swansea City to Stamford Bridge. While the Swans are not a team to be underestimated, because they can pull off some shock results, just ask Manchester United and Arsenal about last year, it should be comfortable enough for the Champions. Diego Costa is the big worry for the team from London, but Chelsea still possess enough fire power with the like of Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard to put away their opponents and get the season rolling.
Now haters are going to point to Chelsea’s preseason but well it was umm the PRESEASON. Chelsea really never have fired in preseason recently losing to both Werder Bremen and Besiktas last year. We know how that title winning campaign turned out after that. Granted this year the preseason was even worse with Chelsea unable to win even a single game during regular time. But that’s what happens when you are missing one star player (Diego Costa) and another (Eden Hazard) just doesn’t seem up for it. Nothing to worry about though Hazard has never really shined in preseason (although that goal against Barca is just wow). I even remember his first preseason when Marko Marin outshone him and we know what happened to Marin and what happened to Hazard.
Costa though is a worry and the selection between Remy and Falcao is a tough one because both have been pretty bad. I guess it depends on who impresses the special one more in training.
Hazard would really need to step up though with Costa missing and he is more than capable of doing it like he did during the latter half of last season when Costa was out injured. Our defense is pretty much set and in the midfield I would go for Matic and Cesc with Oscar, Hazard and Willian in front of them. Manchester United have improved but the gap between us and them is too big for them to overcome despite their summer business. Manchester City for me still need to be more consistent so I’m not that worried about them either. Liverpool well lol, of course they won’t walk alone on the top, they will be with the mid table pack fighting it out. Arsenal has had enough time to celebrate their “Community Shield win” it’s time to pop their bubble and show them what title winners really look like.
Keep the blue flag flying high!!!
