Manchester United looking to close the gap at the top

By Imran Kardar

With the Champions Chelsea dropping points at home to Crystal Palace (LOL :D) and Liverpool also losing at home to West Ham, United must be looking to move away from the pack and close the gap at the top where Manchester City are sitting with 12 points by virtue of winning all their games so far. United are up against Swansea a team that beat them in the opening game of last season. Time to get some revenge! United were superb in midweek but that game is over, we are back in the Champions League and now the focus should be back on the EPL. It’s a must win game. United have to go in to the international break with a win because on the other side is a match with the old enemy, Liverpool!

No points for guessing the formation, it’s going to be the 4-2-3-1. However, we could dish out points for guessing the lineup. There will be no change in the defense as they have been rock solid. In midweek Carrick and Herrera started in midfield and I think it’s unlikely that the both will start again this week. Schneiderlin will be back in there with Schweinsteiger. However, I expect Herrera to keep his place and play as the No.10 as Januzaj is out injured. He should make up the attacking trio with Memphis and Mata with Rooney up top.

Another big game for Wazza. When he doesn’t score he gets criticized and when he does the critics say it was a lowly Brugges side. Another chance to prove the critics wrong by getting on the score sheet against Swansea. Win the game and United will sit second in the league with 10 points. Hence, a massive game. And the player and manager know it. They know the importance to get off to a good start. Look at Chelsea; they are already 8 points off the top. United have started off much better than last season, however goal scoring remains a concern. And with reports the Chicharito could be on his way out United must sign a striker before the window closes. As world class strikers are not up for sale, I would seriously take a look at Zlatan. PSG are ready to part with him and he is the kind of player who can add to the team in terms of experience and goals even at the age of 32-33. The transfer fee involved won’t be high but the wages will be. That shouldn’t be a problem for a club like United. Yes, there must be concerns that he turns out to be another Falcao for United but there is one very important thing being overlooked, he isn’t returning from a knee surgery. He is fit, he is playing, and he is class!

So the match should be taken as a revenge match and United should come out all guns blazing! My prediction is a 2-0 win. Glory, Glory, Man United!
