After an excellent outing in Europe, where Liverpool managed to earn a point more than Man Utd, Man City & Arsenal combined, and were only the third English club along with Chelsea and Tottenham to get off the mark, they shift their focus to the Premier League, where they will meet their favorite bunnies Norwich. Norwich City are the club, which settled for relegation from the Premier League rather than facing Liverpool and only returned to the top division of English football, when a certain Luis Suarez left the Merseyside club to join Barcelona. The Uruguayan remained the worst nightmare for the Canaries, scoring 15 goals against them in 6 meetings, including 4 in the same game and 3 hat-tricks, courtesy of which he became the only Liverpool player to bag a trio of hat-tricks against the same Premier League club.
Where Norwich are ecstatic on the absence of Luis Suarez from the Liverpool squad, they have been dealt with another blow, and that of his once strike partner Daniel Sturridge fit once again and all set to start later today. With the return of the English front man, Liverpool will be strengthened as him and Christian Benteke would take the field to try and replay the goal-scoring antics at Anfield. The Belgian forward is fresh from his stunning worldie against Man Utd at Old Trafford, which left the crowd spellbound. The goal of the season so far meant that the fluke win for Man Utd was overshadowed. David De Gea’s first start for Man Utd was just the opposite to what his fans were expecting. He was made to look like Sam Johnstone in front of the sticks. Big Ben would so dearly want to carry on from his outstanding form and net at least four past John Ruddy.
Liverpool will be without their captain Jordan Henderson for another match, after he broke his toe in training and will remain on the sidelines for a further two months, which adds to Liverpool’s miseries, who are already without star midfielder and Welsh Xavi, Joe Allen. Other than that, there is injury to Kolo Toure, the veteran centre-back, who played his part in the historic away draw in France. Adam Lallana started against Bordeaux on Thursday in the Europa League and is expected to make the bench against Norwich. A big boost for Liverpool will be their Brazilian playmaker Philip Coutinho’s return to the side, after his harsh red card suspension, which kept him out of the game against Man Utd, much to their credit. The fans are geared up to watch what is expected to be another goal-fest at Anfield this Sunday evening.
