The Specialist in failure could not just resist the temptation to lose to minnows. It seems among numerous traits exhibited by Arsene one of them is to lose to a side against which you could say that Arsenal should win easily.
Arsenal opened the scoring right before the half hour mark from a set piece and the goal scored by Master Misser Olivier giroud. Of course the assist provided by none other than Mesut Ozil. It was Ozil’s 7th straight assist in 7 consecutive matches.
West Brom had other ideas. They were fluent and coherent in attack. West Brom making Arsenal suffer from their oldest enemy a set piece. James Morrison scoring with the assist provided by Chris Brunt.
Arsenal despite having all the possession in world (73%) still went down by a goal right before the end of first half and that too from an own goal scored by Mikel Arteta who came on as a sub for injured Francis Coquelin.
That was not all. In the second half Arsenal tried and tried and tried. Eventually they got a penalty in the 87th minute. But conditions got the better of Santi Cazorla who slipped right at the very moment resulting in his shot going sky high and with that the hope of Arsenal getting a point out of this game also vanished.
