Manchester United Face Stoke in Critical Game That Could Decide LVG’s Future

By Imran Kardar

Things are now getting serious at Manchester United. After a week of speculation on LVG’s future and rumors that broke out that he has been sacked and that Jose Mourinho has been appointed as the new Manager, United will again be on the pitch and LVG in the dugout trying to master a win and saving his job. These are troubled times at Manchester United with rumors that LVG has two games to save his job. And the schedule hasn’t been kind to Manchester United’s manager with a tough away game at Stoke followed by a home game with Chelsea.

First things first, the manager needs to focus on the away game to Stoke. This is always a tough game for any opponent as Stoke play a physical game; they recently beat Manchester City on their home turf as well. United come in to this game short on confidence, having lost their last three games in all competitions and struggling to score goals. This could very well be a season defining moment for Manchester United.

Team news is that the injury list is easing up however United are still without Rojo, Shaw, Valencia , Darmian and Lingard. Bastian Schweinsteiger will be serving the last of his three match ban so he will also be missing. In the absence of the above United should lineup with DDG in goal with a back four of Young, Smalling, Jones and Blind. Midfield should consist of Carrick and Schweinsteiger. Upfront United should be looking to start with Mata, Rooney, Memphis and Martial. It is possible that we see Mata sit this one out in favor of Fellaini and his physical presence.

The message to the players should be fairly simple, score one more goal than the opponent. Where that goal is going to come from is a different story! The players need to be charged up for this one. It is time they give the manager and the fans a performance they deserve. LVG has had to take a lot of stick for the underperforming players and now is the time that the players payback the faith and trust of the manager and the fans. I, on the other hand, am not too optimistic about the game. I can see United struggling again and failing to score. Stoke will be up for the game as it’s a big game for them and they also lost last week at home to Palace. I hope I’m wrong and we get to see a show by the Red Devils, its high time! GGMU!
